Allerdings war diese Maschine zusammen mit den beiden norwegischen Falcon 20ECM, zwei Belgian Army Islander, drei LTW Hercules, einer Tristar und vier Dominie nur ein Teil der gemischten Transporter/Trainer-Komponente an dem Tag. Heimat der ET 1/65 „Vendome“ war Villacoublay unweit Paris. Die Nord 262 der ET 65 trugen keinen typische Geschwadernummer sondern nur einen Code bestehend aus zwei Buchstaben.
The Airfield Gütersloh
Due to its close proximity to the inner-German border RAF Gütersloh (ICAO code EDUO, since 1994 ETUO) was one of the most active and most approached airbase of over 70 military airfields and heliports in Germany. A huge amount of visiting aircraft, several Gütersloh based aircraft types and the proximity to exercise and low-level flying areas, but also to potential enemy areas in the state of defence secured this position until the end of the Cold War. In the year 1986 for example, over 58.000 aircraft movements were counted, this is equivalent of 160 a day, including the weekends.
