Does anyone recall the removal of the above Canberra from 59 Sqdn on 15th October 1957?

I did a fast and dirty translation of all we have about the XH204. If you have further information we would be very interested in everything we can get.

© J. Seville XH204 Canberra B(I)8 59Sqn, Gütersloh (1957) - RAFG units flying the interdictor version of the Canberra were well spread all over Germany. No 59Sqn was based at Gütersloh before it moved to Geilenkirchen where it was renamed to 3Sqn. No 88Sqn became No 14Sqn at RAF Wildenrath, No 16Sqn was based at Laarbruch and No 213Sqn was based at Ahlhorn flying Canberra B(I)6.

© John Seville XH204 Canberra B(I)8 59Sqn, Gütersloh (1957) - A "Junior Technician" "hijacked" Canberra XH204 in 1957 trying to fly to the UK. But he did not get very far as the aircraft left the taxiway at Gütersloh. XH204 crashed 9th May 1967 near Wesel.

From Based units: No 59Sqn
