© Marcus Herbote XS637 Andover C1 CinC AFNORTH, Gütersloh (11.07.1985) Because until 1994 the Brits regulaly positioned the Commander in Chief of Air Force North the Commander became his own aircraft. The Andover carried the badge of the Command - a Viking ship. From November 1982 until February 1986 General Sir R. Lawson was commander-in-chief for Norway and the surrounding sea areas. The XS637 later was transferred to 32Sqn at RAF Northolt. Near the entrance door you cann see four stars indicating the rank of the Commander - being a general.
